FACILITY OVERVIEW:
The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is a first-of-its-kind, hockey specific training facility located just north of Pittsburgh in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.  A joint venture between the Pittsburgh Penguins and their world-renowned sports medicine partner, UPMC (formerly University of Pittsburgh Medical Center), the $70 million complex will be the first medical facility in the country to focus specifically on hockey-related training, testing, rehabilitation and injury prevention.

The new practice home for the NHL Penguins will include two NHL-sized ice rinks, professional locker rooms, an NHL-quality weight room and fourteen locker rooms.  In addition, the facility includes 1,500 square feet of hockey skills training space that features a Rapidshot System, three Rapidhands training stations and a sixty-six foot resistance skating lane.  The facility will also be the home ice for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Tier I youth program.

The medical facility will feature 50,000 square feet of clinical space for training, testing and therapy from some of the world’s leading doctors and specialists.  It will offer expert care in orthopaedics, concussion management, physical and occupational therapy, imaging and sports-performance training, making it the premier facility in North America for elite hockey training.

SUMMARY: 
Operations Attendants are responsible, but not limited to, assisting the operations team in maintaining a clean, safe and well operated facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining cleanliness of the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex
  • Assisting Zamboni driver with all ice cuts
  • Maintain a clean safe environment for employees and customers

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends
  • Punctual

SUMMARY: 
The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is looking for qualified part-time Information Desk staff. Information Desk staff are responsible for providing an outstanding customer service experience, performing administrative tasks and assisting with skate rental.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome and assist all customers
  • Have a thorough understanding of facility events and programs
  • Distribute and collect locker room keys and rental skates
  • Answer the phone and ensure customer questions are answered professionally and accurately
  • Manage customer transactions and payment utilizing Point of Sale system
  • Perform basic administrative duties
  • Maintain a clean safe environment for employees and customers

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Those under 18 must have a valid work permit
  • Outstanding customer skills
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends

SUMMARY:
The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is looking for qualified Learn to Skate coaches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead or assist a group of skaters as young as 3 years old
  • Arrive on time and prepared.
  • Assist with student check-in beginning 15 minutes before scheduled class start time.
  • Provide ice skating instruction to students of all ages using the Learn to Skate USA program, instructing students in all elements of class level.
  • Maintain a positive, upbeat and fun class environment using age-appropriate games and props to keep students moving and engaged.
  • Assist Coordinator, Youth Skating and Introductory Programs with determining student placement and class combinations.
  • Assist participants, providing support and extra direction as needed or requested by the Coordinator, Youth Skating and Introductory Programs.
  • Encourage appropriate behavior of students.
  • Attend training sessions as directed by Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have previous coaching experience
  • Must have ISI or US Figure Skating and Learn to Skate USA certification and insurance
  • Valid Pennsylvania drivers license
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Outstanding customer skills
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Under 18 must provide valid work permit

SUMMARY:

The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is looking for qualified Ice Resurfacer Drivers. Drivers are responsible for ice maintenance, operations support and maintenance duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform ice resurfacing duties based on daily schedule while adhering to safe operating techniques as specified by STAR.
  • Maintain ice resurfacer after each resurface.
  • Maintain ice surface, patch holes, flood, and edge perimeter of ice surface.
  • Provide building maintenance, replace arena glass, clean restrooms, and empty trash.
  • Maintain a clean safe environment for employees and customers.
  • Adhere to industry safe practices for IR blade changes.
  • Adhere to industry safe practices for fuel handling.
  • Accurately record data including ice maintenance, air quality and refrigeration readings.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Previous ice resurfacing experience
  • 1-3 years ice arena operations experience
  • Valid Pennsylvania drivers license
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Outstanding customer skills
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.

This position requires the ability to stand, sit, walk, and bend for extended periods and the ability to lift 75 pounds occasionally.

Title: Penguins Performance Training Coach

Department: Performance Training

Position Description: Penguins Performance Training (PPT) is now hiring a full-time Performance Coach. As a member of the coaching staff, responsibilities include overall supervision of the strength and conditioning programs for all PPT customers, injury preventative program design, collaboration with on-ice coaches, supervision and scheduling of the weight room facilities, working in collaboration with teammates to deliver 5-star training experience. All positions offer competitive compensation.  

  • Design performance programs for individual athletes, teams, adults and youth. 
  • Teach proper skills, skill development, form and safety considerations for strength and conditioning.
  • Analyze individual and team performance needs for sport specific training and performance.
  • Ensure athlete safety and well-being in all training sessions, conditioning activities, practice activities related to strength and conditioning program.
  • Complete various assigned reports. 
  • Meet individual sales goals by offering Penguins Performance Training services to western PA area and beyond.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field – New graduates encouraged!
  • Current certification from NSCA, NASM, or ACSM
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certified
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Previous experience in Sports Performance
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues for program growth and enhancement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CSCS/CES/PES or related certification
