The UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Township will host the 2022 USA Hockey Girls National Championships in three age levels, it was announced earlier this week by USA Hockey.
Top teams in the Girls 14U, 16U and 19U age groups will compete for national titles from March 31-April 4, 2022, with Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Penguins Elite serving as the host organization.
The complex will also host the USA Hockey Senior Women’s championships the same week.
“We’ve had the honor of hosting the boys national championships in previous years, but we’re excited because this is the first time we’ve been chosen to host the girls tournament,” said Rich Hixon, the Pittsburgh Penguins Senior Vice President of Facilities. “It’s a tribute to the growth of girls hockey in the Pittsburgh region, and to the success we’ve achieved with the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite girls programs.
USA Hockey will hold the 2022 boys and girls championships in ten different cities and six states.
USA Hockey has been overseeing national championship events since 1938. As part of USA Hockey Nationals across the country, more than 4,000 players compete for American hockey top honors in various classifications.
